January 17 You Should Stay In China Forever "China is the sweetest place to be now." ---- Mom P. (AKA my mother-in-law) Two days ago we skyped tony's mom and she surprisingly said the above words. It was like W-O-W! to both of us. Its pretty hard to imagine that those words were said by the same lady who yelled "China?! F***ing China!?" three years ago when her youngest son told her he was going to China. But anyways, it was good talking with her the other day. And we did notice that since she came for our wedding and left a couple of days later, she hasn't been emailing or calling or skyping tony/us much. She used to call him in the middle of nowhere and told him that she was worried about him being in China. I secretly thought that for a while tony was almost bitter or at least frustrated with his family thinking that they dont miss or love him enough....Now it all makes sense. Obiviously China is the sweetest place to be now. Therefore, tony and where he is no longer bother them any more. Mom P. told us that she told dad that tony should be in China for at least another couple of years before he came back to the States. She told us how Obama was gonna throw 700 billion us dollars in building the infrustructure and that money will definitely have to be channeled in from the tax. She said that dad and her life is not influenced by the stagnant economy b/c dad works for a japanese company and she works for tow doctors, which makes me wonder if they have different taxation systems for domestic companies and foreigh companies. And we went on talking and tony told her that I was gonna take the LSAT test and try to go to law school. We emailed them a couple months ago saying that i might try to go to law school in or around NYC but it was just an idea then. Now since I really made up my minds in doing this, tony told her that she might have 2 lawyers in the family. She got serious and told me that Mercer has a good law school and i can go to Mercer law school so that tony and i can live with them. "You could save rents." she put it that way. I laughed and jokingly asked her "what if something goes wrong and we unexpectedly have a baby while we are living with you?" ....When we randomly told her that we wouldnt have any kids in 4 or 5 years, she shooked her head thinking that we would be too old then. Tony laughed and said:"What do you want mom, she will be in law school for 3 years, you want her to have a kid while she's at school?" She stopped for a second and said:" You kown what, you guys can do that, you can go to school and when you come back home you can change diapers....and I will help babysit the baby...." We all had a good laugh. and finally we told her firmly that we are not planning on having kids any time soon. She said:"It's not a good idea, think about it, tony, how old will you be when your child grows in to a teenager? you will be 50 something old, you will be my age, will you wanna deal with a teenager when you are 52? uh... I dont wanna deal with a teenager now..." She was so cute, she was shaking her head and grabing it with her hands trying to show us how horrible it is if she has to deal with a teenager now, "teenagers???...uh...NO...." I laughed and told her:"Dont worry mom, we will raise them in China when they are that old, teenagers in China are a lot easier to deal with because they are all over-stressed by their school works!" When she heard that, she was first masmerized:" Really?" and then clearly reliefed,"Then you guys should stay in China forever." She said that with a very firm tone. |
